The first step in reserving a date for your wedding at Gesù Catholic Church is to call the office and speak with the wedding secretary. It is mandatory to do this with at least six months of anticipation. We have included a preliminary list of requirements to be completed as soon as possible. They include the following:
• Certificates & proof of sacraments:
We need the bride and groom’s updated Baptismal Certificate, and proof of their First Communion and Confirmation.
• Letter of Permission:
If you are not a parishioner of Gesù, then we need a letter of permission from the bride’s home parish. This letter gives the bride permission to marry at Gesù Catholic Church.
Parish Marriage preparation fee and ceremony fee, not including the music, photographers or extra flowers, is 2000 dollars. The down payment is 1000 dollars to be paid at the first meeting, the rest is to be paid two weeks before the wedding date.
• Marriage Course:
The Archdiocese of Miami requires that the couple getting married go through a marriage preparation course. There are two courses to choose from: “Engaged Encounters” (English) or “Camino del Matrimonio” (Spanish).
Marriage Preparation Online is only for those who serve in the Military Forces of this Country and do not come to the U.S. often.
• Civil Marriage License:
Ten day before the wedding, the couple must bring in their civil marriage license from the State of Florida to the parish rectory.
In the first meeting with the priest, a date is chosen and a donation is given to confirm the date of the wedding and rehearsal. Also, the priest will meet with the couple several times during the month prior to the wedding. The priest will provide the couple with a booklet very helpful to prepare the Marriage Ceremony. The book’s title is TOGETHER FOR LIFE.
If you have any questions, please contact the rectory from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. We can be reached at 305-379-1424,
